About Me
Hi, I’m Katelyn
I am an Attachment-Based Somatic Practitioner, Holistic & Integrative Occupational Therapist, and a huge dog lover! I look forward to exploring how I can support you on journey.
I create for both the already established and the closeted rebels.
For the curious seekers who are longing for a different, more fulfilling way of life but are not quite sure how to get there. For the committed changemakers and visionaries who want to seize all this present moment has to offer. For the courageous humans who are no longer able to suppress that little voice inside that says there’s more to life than just getting by, tiptoeing around fears and triggers, and cycling through outdated patterns and beliefs.
For coming back home to self. For self expression. For embodied liberation. For creative aliveness. For nourishing connection.
For no longer waiting for a hypothetical future day when you’re “fixed” or “healed” to start living life. Because you know this life is way too precious to waste and surviving just isn’t enough.
For living fully NOW.
A living created not by being, doing, and having more but rather by taking the time to slow down and access the power that emerges when you meet this moment exactly as it is.
I’d be honored to partner with you through somatic and attachment based explorations to support you to do just that.
For the past ten years, I have had the privilege of supporting individuals through the depths of some of life’s greatest challenges including domestic violence, trauma, disability, grief, and illness.
I advocate for liberating ourselves from the insidious and often unconscious grips of Fix It Culture because I believe that only in investing our energy into the source rather than the symptoms can we truly live to our fullest potential.
In simple terms this means
Less fixing ourselves for the future.
More being alive right now.
The clients I work are tired of waiting with their life on pause while following someone else’s timeline and agenda (whose life is it anyway?!).
To do that, I’m going to ask you to do some things differently.
Rather than reacting out of discomfort and default - what we’ve been taught to do - I will support you in reconnecting to your own inner resources and allowing the wisdom of your body to guide your way.
Reconnect to your body.
Repattern what you know.
Reignite your life force.
That way you don’t spend your whole life waiting for your life for a hypothetical future day to arrive before you begin to live.
To do so, this is NOT another one of those “I am the expert and you must do what I say” sort of scenario.
Instead, we will do that together
as collaborative and equal partners devoted to your return home to yourself.
Because I truly believe that with the right support,
your thriving is inevitable.
More About Me & What It Means For You
The basis of my work is about instilling the sacredness and restorative power of human connection - with ourselves and with others. To do so, I bring as much of myself forward into our work together. The following have been important parts of my journey that inform the work I share with others.
I am a perpetual student of life & am committed to never stop learning.
I am a certified provider of Somatic Experiencing and Dynamic Attachment Repatterning Experience (DARe) - body-based approaches to healing trauma and attachment injuries. I have spent hundreds of hours honing my knowledge and experience with these modalities and am constantly striving to deepen my skills through study and assisting in trainings.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I believe the greatest and most long-lasting changes can only be created through personal change and expanded self-awareness. As a result, I am not here to tell you what to do. Rather, I help you deepen your relationship with your own body and experience so you can take the shifts outside of our time together and into your life.
in addition to my somatic work, i’ve spent the past decade expanding my career on an unconventional path as a HOLISTIC & INTEGRATIVE Occupational Therapist
And I still am! I have never been satisfied to have a ‘normal’ career trajectory as an Occupational Therapist. That has led me a range of working in super traditional to extremely niche fields from infants to geriatrics while studying anything I could get my hands on within the medical model, the therapeutic world, and holistic healing modalities.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I encourage you to discover the individual expression that is true to you and follow that path. I will not pressure you to conform to any standards of being and will cheer on whatever conventional or unconventional path you choose to follow.
SOME OF MY most rewarding work has been and continues to be supporting survivors of domestic violence
Facilitating life skills groups and individual sessions for survivors of domestic violence has stretched me to my edges both personally and professionally and allowed me to deepen my own healing and awareness of my own attachment history.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I hold the lens that both consciously and unconsciously our relationships have shaped our experience of ourselves and the world. I both support you in understanding how relationship has influenced your experience in life and also empower you with tools to shift towards more secure relationships with yourself and others.
I’ve served as a Clinical Adjunct for the past decade mentoring graduate level occupational therapy students in clinical settings
I absolutely love having an academic side to balance out the clinical side of practice. I thrive off of supporting others to develop their own critical thinking skills so they don’t have to rely on default ways of thinking created by others to inform their own life.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I equip you with the tools to reignite and empower your own thinking so your gains don’t stop when our session ends. I seek to provide you with the ‘why’ behind our work together so you may allow your expanded knowledge to serve ripples of change in your life. Let’s flip the practitioner-client power dynamic that leaves us feeling dependent on those we seek help from on its head and put you in the driver’s seat of change to reclaim your power and choice.
I have a longstanding relationship with fear & the belief that something is wrong with me
I was the kid who self diagnosed myself with a shyness disorder when I was in middle school (yes, I was so convinced something was wrong with me that I began consulting Dr. Google to find the answer in my tweens!). Fear has been, and continues to be, a constant companion for me alongside my journey.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: This equips me to more quickly catch the distortions at play and, rather than wasting energy chasing a ‘fix’, help guide you into what would be most supportive in the moment. I also don’t pretend to have it all figured out but will partner with you along wherever your path is taking you.
One of the biggest honors of my life was living with and caring for my father throughout his 10+ year journey with ALS
It was both the most challenging and exhausting experience of my life and the most rewarding and expansive experience of my life.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I understand the excruciating conflict of living with something so painful yet unchangeable. I support you to show up even during the most challenging of times and how to double down on expanding your own inner resilience and capability throughout the process.
I completed a three year mentorship in alchemical healing
Guided by my dear teachers Lorie Dechar and Benjamin Fox, I found myself immersed in a community of acupuncturists, bodyworkers, and alternative healers exploring integrating principles of Jungian psychotherapy, Chinese medicine, archetypal healing, and body-based therapy into my personal and professional work.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I empower you to understand how unconscious forces impact your conscious awareness. I encourage you to seek understanding of how your current situation may have roots that go deeper than this particular situation and provide care and attention there.
I served as a counselor at an adult transformational sleep-away camp for several years during my twenties (Shout out to soul camp!)
Think spending a week with roughly 100 other adults all looking to dive deep into their healing and fun with sound baths, meditations, dance parties, and a talent show. Who says growth can’t be fun?!
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I support you to explore other ways of growing than forcing, pushing, and attempting to check off the never ending to-do list. I know that sometimes that deepest changes can come when we let go of forcing and manipulating to get what we think we need and lean into support and faith.
After freezing in the doorway at an ecstatic dance refusing to go in, I developed a passion for embodied free-form movement
This passion has taken me to rooms of people dancing with wild abandon, pole dancing and sensual movement, becoming a certified feminine movement instructor, and created my own inspired movement classes.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: Rather than encouraging you to face your fears by overriding your needs and overwhelming your nervous system, I help you deepen into your own supports to create a secure foundation upon which to take the leap. I understand that sometimes a new experience of life is available for you on the other side of your fears and yet encourage you to make changes as sustainable and manageable as possible through taking a different approach.
My personal passions involve anything that expands my creativity
I am known to pick up new hobbies when inspiration strikes including singing, dancing, and most recently - sewing. After believing I wasn’t creative anymore after childhood, I have spent much of my adult life learning to let go of the adult ways of being that kept me from freely creating.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: I support you to expand on how you know yourself as a creative being and utilize that creative spark that lives inside, whether its been expressed or extinguished over years of being an ‘adult’, to come alive and be an active participant in guiding your journey in this life.
I am the biggest dog lover (Quite possibly in the world)
I rescued dogs from the pound when I was living in the dorms in college and had nowhere to put them. I talk to my dogs like they are human beings and fully believe they have conversations right back! If given a choice between going out or staying in cuddled up with my pups, I’d pick the latter.
WHAT THAT MEANS FOR YOU: This one is just a fun fact, but if you have animals please know, yes I am interested in doting over their pictures and zoom appearances!
